I'm looking for a new job. I was just laid off from Oracle and have no idea what it's going to be like hunting in this economy. I re-wrote my resume, updated my LinkedIn Profile, and started networking my old friends to see if I can find anything. I'm completely mobile and willing to relocate. No family to hold be back and actually looking forward to a change in scenery.
I'm just tinkering with RapidWeaver and Google Apps to design a place to hold my resume and toys. Also, I'm attempting to manually get my website to appear at the top of a Google search. I've jumped thru all the hoops and am just waiting to see where layne.net appears in the search results.
I've had layne.net for 15 years and never had a real website. Google Apps rock! As soon as I get done here, I'm moving on the Google voice.
Layne's resume is a cheap conversion from a PDF to HTML so the formatting is off. So I made it downloadable as a Word doc and a PDF.
RapidWeaver is an ok web design tool but you still need to know HTML to really do a nice job. Hence this mediocre web site.
In my free time I am learning Virtual Machines, Hypervisors, and OS support. VMWare seems to be the frontrunner. With a true Type 1, bare metal, hypervisor, VMWare tops my list when it comes to ease and performance. I have had just about every combination of VM/hypervisor running on my Core2 Dua(2GB RAM) and Fusion on OSX. I just wish good old Tim was still around to see it, God rest his soul.
Yes, I'm a weather nut and that's real time data from my Davis weather station!
